In the decades since, after learning the Tarot and practicing on all sorts of people,
refining my skills, I have to tell you that it just doesn't work for that. I have learned
that the tarot can show you possibilities, likelihoods, major themes and a potential
cast of characters...but not clearly defined outcomes. It doesn’t always tell you
precisely what’s coming next nor exactly when to expect it’s arrival. It can't. Life
isn't set in stone - and thank goodness for that!

We get to choose evolution. Free will is a thing. I mean, if life just happened on us - if
everything was written in advance for us to just play out like programmed robots...
what would be the point? Instead, life is like high school with pop quizzes and
sporting events and proms. We get to learn about ourselves as we learn about
grammar and good sportsmanship and getting our hearts broken. We get to make
choices, wrong and/or right. We get to grow and advance and evolve if we choose to,
or we can stay in our little ruts and re-live freshman year over and over again if that’
    s the life we choose.

Now, sometimes we really want progress, but we get a little stuck. If the way we
choose to handle a situation or person doesn’t seem to bring the desired result, we
often keep trying – using the same mindset, the same tools. Which is the definition
of insanity: doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.

That’s why we consult the Tarot.

The Tarot can offer insights, showing us where we are tripping ourselves up and
offer a new course of action.  When our expectations are not matching our reality
whether they are too big or too small, premature or long past due, based on a
misunderstanding or untruth – the Tarot can provide ways to shift towards what we
    really want.

Rather than telling us that our destiny is set in stone, the Tarot empowers us to
stretch our way of being to create the life we have imagined. It’s real magic lies in it’
s power to give you insight, options and new ways of looking at old, recurring issues.
Even a big ol’ control freak like me has come to truly appreciate the fact that even
though the Tarot won’t list every specific event that the universe will throw at me, it
tells me exactly what I need to know to move towards the experiences I want to

I trust that now. And really, that's all I need to know.

I’ll tell you why I started with the Tarot: I’m a big ol’
control freak. I am the sort of person who likes to be
prepared. I like to know what’s coming so that I
know how to deal with it. (Maybe you can relate?)

The first reading I got - way back in the last century
- was such a perfect snapshot of where I was then
that I just had to learn how to do it myself so that I
would always know what was coming next
