Here is your Tarot Major Mentor for 2026. Select your zodiac sign (and your rising sign and/or moon sign if you know it) to meet your Tarot inspiration for the new year.

The Sun from the Aquarian Tarot
ARIES
Card: The Sun
Theme: Simple, easy pleasures
Meditation for yourself: I radiate light and joy
When in doubt: Breathe in some sunlight (even if you have to imagine it)
Practical action: Trust in the goodwill of others; see a comedy; take a trip to a sunny place; organize a group game night; join a volleyball league; go to the park and strike up conversations – with strangers, with pigeons and/or with the trees
Remember easy summer days when you were a kid? When you had nothing you had to do and nowhere you had to be? When pleasures were free, when fun was around every corner, and everyone you met was instantly your friend? That’s your Tarot Mission for this year – should you choose to accept it – assume that making fun is cheap and easy, and there is a whole neighborhood of playmates at hand. Expect that having fun as a grown-up can be as easy as finding a game of kick the can. (If you are too young to know what kick the can is, this card says you definitely need to give it a try.) And if you didn’t find fun so easy when you were a kid, know that this is your year to make up for it, and create simple pleasures for yourself and good-hearted others like you. Now more than ever, creating safe ways to socialize and bond is critical to healing ourselves and our communities.

The Empress from the True Heart Intuitive Tarot
TAURUS
Card: The Empress
Theme: Nurturing abundance
Meditation for yourself: I create safe spaces where beauty expands
When in doubt, try: A charm bomb, An expectation of satisfaction; Believing compliments
Practical action: Make something beautiful with your own hands; Start a gratitude journal; Indulge in nature
The Empress is the archetype of the giving, responsive creative mother. For some readers, the appearance of this card could suggest actual pregnancy. For most others though, it’s a metaphor for ripeness and increase in creative ways. This card is all about planting or cooking, decorating or party planning, artistic endeavors and/or craft projects. Your Tarot Mentor calls you to find more ways of amplifying beautify and nurturing good times with joyful people. This card reverberates with being receptive – but please note, that’s not the same as passive. The Empress invites you to balance your natural force of presence with conscious openness to others and subtle beauty. It’s about creating an environment and holding space where invitations, compliments, gifts, guests, and general loveliness can thrive.

Judgement from the True Heart Intuitive Tarot
GEMINI
Card: Judgement
Theme: All is revealed…and it is good.
Meditation for yourself: When I am free to fully accept myself, I free myself to fully accept others
When in doubt: Forgive yourself
Practical action: Reveal a truth about yourself, submit your thesis, look in the mirror and find five things to adore, let go of (at least) one outdated expectation of yourself
In most tarot decks, the image on this card illustrates the medieval European concept of “Judgment Day”. Trumpets sound as men, women, and children step naked out of their coffins and into the light. This might sound spooky, but for us symbol-readers it is a call to step out of your past and trust in a fresh, new life. It is freedom from past mistakes, past regrets, unfulfilled dreams. It is a release from immature expectations and old knee-jerk responses and the embrace of mature consciousness. It is forgiveness and acceptance – for yourself as well as others. This Tarot Mentor says that your success lies in looking back at how far you’ve come and recognizing your beautiful evolution with every step of the journey.

Temperance from the Steampunk Tarot
CANCER
Card: Temperance
Theme: Better together
Meditation for yourself: I find myself whole while submitting to new ensembles
When in doubt: Tag along with the tribe, Invent a new fusion genre, Improvise
Practical action: Join a group (or reinvest in your membership), Make ensemble art, Upcycle something old into something beautifully useful
This is card is kind of about cocktails. Not so much about the joy of drinking, but the thrill of combining elements in just the right way to create something new and delicious. This card calls you to find right ratios – invent surprising new blends incorporating unlikely individual elements. That does require the spirit of experimentation …and the willingness to flop occasionally. This is like a jazz ensemble, and improv comedy, and perfecting a ribbon winning recipe. Your Tarot Mentor is suggesting your most alive moments in the next year will be discovered as you orchestrate some divine art by bringing together different objects – or philosophies, or art forms, or jobs, or flavors, or people – and making magic. You are at your most powerful as you upcycle, merge and meld, marry, mix, re-mix, and co-mingle. (Special note: Alcohol is not required.)

Death from the Awaken Tarot
LEO
Card: Death
Theme: Transformation
Meditation for yourself: I am growing wings so that in the next phase, I fly.
When in doubt, try: A nap, a bath or an orgasm
Practical action: Downsize your home; recycle/donate unwanted items; leave an unhealthy relationship or job; start an exercise program; retire; go back to college or trade school
This card tends to freak people out, but please trust that it does not show up to indicate physical death. It is about transformation. A phase is complete, a new cycle requires a big change, and the growing pains signal the beginning evolution. There is something in your life right now – a job, a relationship, a philosophy, etc – that must transform for the highest good of all involved. Your Tarot Mission this year, should you choose to accept it, is to nurture personal transformation. It’s like molting, or puberty, or menopause, or going from a caterpillar to the butterfly. It may be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or any/all combined. Your new year may include a little hibernation, or schooling, or pronoun adjustments. It might be ending a job or a relationship or an expectation of yourself that no longer fits. However your transformation shows up for you this year, consider performing a small ritual to honor your rite of passage. You owe it to yourself to confirm for others your new butterfly status, and you are likely to inspire others to fly in the process.

The Emperor from the Unfolding Path Tarot
VIRGO
Card: The Emperor
Theme: Building your vision
Meditation for yourself: I manifest my visions for the good of all.
When in doubt: Tell everyone you are building a thing…then build the thing
Practical action: Hire the best people, Print up some business cards, Introduce yourself as an expert
The Emperor is a master planner – one who can envision a better world for him(her)self, and one who has the moxie to build it. First, the vision, then the belief in the vision, then the building. You’ve got to have all three parts. And since this card has shown up for you, your Tarot Mission is to build it. Whether it’s an actual physical thing (like a cabin by a lake) or an entrepreneurial thing (like a freelance business), build it. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to the handle the power tools yourself…feel free to find tasks to delegate. You are the boss, you are the architect, you call the shots and outsource the menial labor. (Unless you really dig getting your hands dirty, then by all means, knock yourself out.) Sit comfortably in your authority, make it happen.

The Magician from Mucha Tarot
LIBRA
Card: The Magician
Theme: Drawing in the fans and acclaim
Meditation for yourself: Behind my magic is my belief in my talent.
When in doubt, try: Inventing your own magic phrase as a mantra to pump yourself up; Add some razzle-dazzle
Practical action: Practice (or put effort into your project/skill/craft) every day, Invest in better tools, Balance skill with flair
This is the card of someone who seems to make magic happen. The truth is that it’s a well-practiced act. What you seem to do so easily takes diligence, focus, skill, practice and most importantly: a belief in your ability to pull it off. This card is inviting you to put in the practice and also – just for fun – throw in a little razzle-dazzle. Your audience doesn’t have to know about your efforts behind the scenes, your fans think you have special powers because you make the magic you do look so easy. Libra, don’t be shy. Drizzle in a little extra flavor over the top. Your Tarot mission this year, should you choose to accept it, is to use a bit of flair while accomplishing a seemingly impossible feat. Dare to make a show of it, because you deserve all the applause.

The Wheel of Fortune from the True Heart Intuitive Tarot
SCORPIO
Card: The Wheel of Fortune
Theme: Turn for the better
Meditation for yourself: I am worthy of success and abundance
When in doubt: Believe good fortune is at hand
Practical action: Buy a raffle ticket, ask for a raise, ask for a promotion, ask your crush on a date, take a chance at [FILL IN THE BLANK] because why not?
The Wheel of Fortune augurs a surprising – but pleasant – change. This card announces a change of fortune, a run of “good luck” or ease. Life flows more smoothly under the influence of this card. And/or you could find a surprising opportunity or an unexpected invitation: you nail an excellent gig, you land the girl (or the prince), get a raise or a bonus, you win a prize in a drawing…something along those lines. You may be putting all kinds of focus and attention on one area of your life trying to achieve a certain outcome, but you are likely to find a sudden mini-breakthrough in a completely different area. That’s because when we let go of expectations and micro-management, there is room for magic to manifest. This year expect green lights, freebies and other metaphorical muffin baskets. These lucky finds may show up where you least expect them.

The Hermit from the True Heart Intuitive Tarot
SAGITTARIUS
Card: The Hermit
Theme: Reflection
Meditation for yourself: With space for reflection, I discover my own wisdom and edit out the false programming.
When in doubt, try: Writing it out
Practical action: Edit; Read the fine print; Meditate; Journal; Take a teaching position, Take a sabbatical
For those of us living modern lives in the west, there’s not much of a reference point for The Hermit. Not a realistic one, anyway. Don’t worry, this card isn’t suggesting that you should go seclude yourself on a mountain top. It is about processing wisdom, taking what you’ve learned from the great thinkers of the ages and balancing that with what you’ve learned in your own experience. It’s mediation with a purpose, consciously reviewing and refining your thoughts and beliefs – about yourself, your place in your community, your accomplishments, your goals. You don’t have to turn your back on society to do so, but this card is about finding your own voice. Your mission this year, should you choose to accept it, is to turn away from the external chaos in your mundane life and the sift out the internal noise you inherited along the way. Listen for your truth, then turn up the volume. There’s wisdom there.

The Hanged One from the Modern Witch Tarot
CAPRICORN
Card: The Hanged One
Theme: New perspectives
Meditation for yourself: I see the world in a new way, including my place in it.
When in doubt, try: Yoga, Meditation, expanding your reach
Practical action: Observe, listen, absorb, adapt, breathe into the tight places and s t r e t c h your expectations
From the Hanged One’s perspective, everything is upside down. They simply can’t see the world the same way they did when both feet were on the ground. And maybe that sounds kind of like the last year, doesn’t it? Topsy-turvy? Believe it or not, the gravity shift is a gift. The Hanged One card signals a time to experience a new way of understanding yourself and your contribution to your world. From this new position, you have to sacrifice your old way of doing things and let go of expectations you’ve had for a long time. As you orient yourself to this new vantage point, you will see that it was your old expectations that were keeping you stuck. You may be surprised at how nimble and flexible you are becoming, and you will see new ways you can take action in your sphere of influence. Epiphanies lead to adaptations that lead to victories and while it may be hard to believe just now, this is the year you’ll go from strength to strength. Your achievements in the coming year will be due to shifts in awareness you could not have had before the upside down time.

Justice from the Aquarian Tarot
AQUARIUS
Card: Justice
Theme: Fair contracts, Negotiation and Mediation
Meditation for yourself: I negotiate fair terms for all parties in the contract (including myself).
When in doubt, try: Reviewing the evidence/documentation
Practical action: Ask probing questions; read the fine print; clarify boundaries and consequences; make no assumptions – get it in writing
Balance, fairness, and harmony. That’s what Justice is: fair play, win-win, reciprocity, and agreements that honor the rights and contributions of all signing parties. You may see a verdict fall in your favor under this card, or you may be informed of an inheritance, or you may be presented with a contract. Alternatively, you may be in a position to judge what is in the interest of fair play, what will resolve issues and bind agreements, and what will restore the peace. On the flip side, be wary of requests for “favors” that create an imbalance of power or debt. This card invites you to embody justice as you go through the world. Since some Aquarians can be too charitable (yes, that is a thing), remember this card as you make connections in the coming year. Asking for fair recompense is as important for yourself as it is for your commitments to other people and organizations. Honor boundaries, speak your truth, and be prepared to meet someone in the middle. Do the right thing and Karma will do right by you.

The Devil from the Mucha Tarot
PISCES
Card: The Devil
Theme: Conquering temptation
Meditation for yourself: I choose life, stability and self-respect when I make healthy choices.
When in doubt, try: A long walk; Looking into your own eyes in the mirror, respecting your body, respecting your long term goals, respecting your commitments
Practical action: Start a food and/or exercise log; go to a 12 step meeting; cut up your credit cards; delete the hook-up apps; recommit to your partner with a ceremony; get therapy; go to rehab; yoga; meditation
There are a couple of cards that always freak people out, but this is not a gloom and doom card. It is a call to healthy routines. It is a reminder that bad habits limit you – you know, like cigarettes, booze, junk food, shopping, unsafe hook-ups, constant gaming or scrolling social media. Or you may be in the habit of giving too much power to another person or a belief system. It could be that a job or even a hobby that is sucking up all of time, energy and resources, leaving you one dimensional and keeping you from succeeding in other areas of your life. This card invites you to acknowledge the bad habit so that you can eliminate its power. Create a new routine or two to support your self-mastery. The Devil challenges you to take your power back. And as you master a healthier schedule, you’ll be leaving more room (and time, and resources) for being more of who you really want to be. And hanging out with people who share similar healthy habits.
