I always wondered why Palladini chose to show just one person on this card. Traditional there are three because it depicts people working together towards a common goal. Other cards in the Aquarian deck show more than one person, so it’s really baffling to me why he missed the opportunity to show teamwork in this card.
I hadn’t really noticed that, but now that you mention it, it is an interesting choice. I do tend to interpret the Three of Pentacles a little differently. For me, it can be about leading a team or standing out from the team, or being commissioned or recognized for your effort – but still, within the context of a team or rising within a group of peers. This character does seem very alone and also, quite small compared to the structure they are working on.
I love the Aquarian Tarot, but there is a feeling of stillness to some of the art that is almost lonely. Lonely might not be the best word for it. But I always feel a little sad for the Page of Wands in this deck. And that’s not the feeling the Page of Wands should inspire.
