Astro Nugget: New Moon in Leo on August 9, 2010

There’s a new moon in Leo on Monday!

New moons are excellent for supporting fresh starts and new experiences that you hope to manifest in your life.  Jan Spiller literally wrote the book making new moon wishes: New Moon Astrology: The Secret of Astrological Timing to Make All Your Dreams Come True.  (I visit her site regularly, she’s got great free monthly horoscopes and tips for new moon wishing.)

You can use the tarot in your new moon meditations too.  Pull a tarot card (or two, or three) that represent the aspects of this new moon that you want to magnetize into your experience.  For example, the Leo new moon can trigger potent creativity that you’d like to harness for a special new project.  The Ace of Wands (oh, for a muse of Fire!) can serve as a mandala or the Queen of Wands might be the icon to emulate.  It’s important to note that the genius resides in you, but intent + focus + action during a supportive cycle helps promote success.

Astro nugget: Solar Eclipse in Cancer July 11, 2010

The Moon from the Aquarian Tarot

What does that mean to you?  Time to find an astrologer!

Okay, okay, generally speaking…eclipses points to endings/beginnings.  Where exactly the energy shift is manifesting in your personal universe depends on your unique astrological chart.   But since a solar eclipse has the astrological impact of a super-strong new moon and new moons are about beginnings and Cancer is the sign the nurturer (and coincidentally, a sign ruled by the moon), this is a good time to “birth” a new project/situation/connection and “nurse” it into form.

Better yet, read the eclipse explanation over at Evolving Door Astrology.  It’s deeper than my quick and dirty attempt.

If you consult the tarot hoping to hear about a change in your circumstances, don’t be surprised if the tarot advises you to make a change in yourself!

Think of the Tarot like a map. Maybe your dream destination is just around the bend, or maybe you need to replot your course.  Or maybe you’re not sure if you want to go to that place anymore.  The map won’t tell you if you “should” or “shouldn’t” go to that destination, nor precisely how long it will take you (especially if you are good at getting lost on the back roads or taking long siestas at the rest stops.)  But our reading will illustrate which parts of your life are on point and which areas are off the grid. You will receive advice on changes you can make to better align with your choosen trajectory and/or tips for dealing with roadblocks, detours, dead-ends, traveling companions and crazy locals.

The Fool from the Universal Waite Tarot

It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.

If you’d rather hear a pretty story about how all of your dreams come right to your doorstep without any effort on your part, if you expect a long laundry list of awesome predictions…please find a nice lady with a big neon palm in her window, she probably clears curses and reunites lost loves too.

Otherwise, find a tarot reader with at least one foot on the ground.  If it’s yours truly, please bring an open mind and an open heart and trust that the message on the table can help guide you towards the epiphany you seek.  (You’ll still have to take steps towards that which you seek.)

Change begins within you.

Hello world!

The Fool, from the Fenestra Tarot

Welcome to my new blog!  After years of publishing my Tarot musings over at Bohemian Path Tarot, I have decided to try a blog format.  I am still learning the ropes over here at Word Press, but I am hoping for a more dynamic and interactive offering at this location.  Let’s take the leap!
